Week 13: Villages of Attersee

Lockdowns getting extended to the 24th mixed with nonstop snow and freezing temperatures resulted in a week without any big adventures. Needless to say by the end of the week we were starting to get cabin fever and feeling like we were reliving every day the same way. So yesterday we scraped the ice off the car, loaded the dogs up, and drove to Attersee, the largest lake of the Salzkammergut region in Upper Austria. We drove around the entire lake and must have entered and exited over 20 tiny villages positioned along the water. We stopped in one of the villages that reminded us of Hallstatt. It was called Unterach. While the snow makes everything magical, I can’t wait to come back during the summer when the water is as blue as the Caribbean. The drive took an hour and a half and fulfilled our desire to be outside.

While this week may not have been our most exciting, Charlie had a big week. He got a brand new couch. He used to jump up on our bed and the couch every day and got his hair everywhere and our king-sized bed quickly become too crowded at bedtime. I knew he wouldn’t use a generic pet store bed, so I found a German company called Brunolie. They make top quality beds, couches, and blankets for pets. We ordered the XL because our boy loves to sprawl out. This bed wasn’t cheap and Charlie often tears up soft plushy toys so we were not sure this couch would last. But since he got it, he has slept on it every night. He uses the pillow and even shares his couch with his sister. All the hair that used to be on our bed and couches now stay on his couch. The best part is you can unzip the cover and wash it. Highly recommend if you ever have a need to buy something from Germany.

In addition to Charlie’s new couch, we got a brand new induction stovetop since ours stopped working, our landlord brought over our name plaque and installed it on the outside of our apartment door, and Eric got a new cast that he has to wear for a few more weeks.

Here’s to hoping the lockdown ends soon and a more exciting week ahead.
