Week 20: Freelance job #2 & The Zoo!

Week 20 highlights:

We heard exciting news that restaurant outdoor dining is opening at the end of the month and tourism is aimed to resume by April! I also wrapped up my first freelance gig and start another two-week gig tomorrow. I go into the office for my first day and all the excitement and anxiousness is settling in as Sunday is coming to a close. The office is located right next to Red Bull’s global HQ in Fuschlsee, Austria. We drove there this weekend to make sure I know where I am going and the office is in such a cute little town. Be sure to follow my IG stories as I am sure I will post some pictures/videos from my first day.

The Schmiding Zoo

We found another place open on a Sunday–The Schmiding Zoo! It is located in Wels, in Upper Austria. Schmiding is home to Austria’s only Gorillas and displays the largest walk-through aviary in the world. I am not a fan of birds because I was pooped on by a bird as a child. So I usually would avoid the aviary, but the Schmiding walk-through aviary was a cool experience.

We go to the zoo almost every time we are in a new city. We love animals and we take any chance we have to get up close and personal with them. My favorite animal is the Giraffe and my #1 bucket-list item is to visit Nairobi, Kenya and stay at Giraffe Manor.

World Wildlife Day

March 3, 2021 was World Wildlife Day. Other than a few animals like ducks, birds and squirrels people typically do not encounter wild animals very often. While Zoo’s exist to protect against species going extinct or to rehab injured animals, the animals in the habitats are not technically wildlife. Many have never lived in the wild and have adopted behaviors that are not natural to their wild relatives. We are grateful to have seen wild animals over the years during our adventures. Here are a few images from past vacations.
