Week 39: Day Trip to Vienna

This weekend we traded the mountains and lakes for Vienna. We drove 2.5 hours to the other side of the country and arrived in Vienna around 10AM.

Half-way there I realized I left my vaccine card at home, so I researched testing stations in Vienna and we found a drive through location close to where we were going for brunch.

At 11AM, we met with the owners of the advertising agency I have been freelancing for since February and we had brunch at TIAN – A vegan and vegetarian friendly restaurant in the middle of the 7th district.

Tian was awarded a Michelin star in 2014 and Paul Ivic is the only chef in Austria who has earned a Michelin star with purely vegetarian cuisine. There are only 12 vegetarian restaurants worldwide with a Michelin star. In 2020 there were only 7.

Eric and I began our vegan journey a little over a year ago during the start of the pandemic and a few months before we moved abroad. I have been keeping a list of the best vegan restaurants we have experienced and our favorite vegan recipes.

After a 4-course brunch, as you can imagine, we practically rolled down the streets of Vienna.
