Week 86: Mein Land Dein Land

As much as we have loved traveling and exploring other countries over the past month, we are happy to be back in Austria spending our weekends in the mountains.

We checked off another via ferrata this week. Via ferratas are the perfect combination of adventure and stunning views and they are all over Austria. With over 900 routes to choose from, we completed our 7th one, the Mein Land Dein Land, which translates to My Country Your Country.

This route is one of three leading up to the Predigtstuhl–a mountain peak near Bad Goisern, near Hallstatt.

After trekking through a poorly marked forest, we arrived at the entrance, which was a narrow slot carved through the rock walls.

There were a handful of other people ahead of us, so at times we just had to hang on the side of the wall waiting to move forward. This canyon ferrata was an easy one and easily one of our favorites.

After wobbling across a suspension bridge, making our way over an uncomfortably shaky ladder, and shimmying across the rock face, the route was finished.

The temperatures are rising here, which makes hiking and climbing in the middle of the day a bit unbearable. Since this via ferrata was inside of a cave, the temperatures were thankfully quite pleasant.

P.S., Happy Father’s Day to our dads!
