Week 95-96: A Weekend in Gmunden
Perhaps some of you noticed we took a little hiatus in week 95. A combination of rainy weather and exhaustion from the adventures in the weeks prior led us straight to the couch to do absolutely nothing which was exactly what we needed.
Week 96 was still absent of hiking trails and climbing routes, but instead, we explored Gmunden as it transformed into the ceramic center of the world.
A red carpet guides visitors down the Esplanade as 130 artists from around Europe showcased their best works during the 34th Austrian pottery market.
From sophisticated porcelain tableware to animalistic ceramic carvings, ceramic lovers from near and far can find something unique at this market.
The pottery and the nice weather drew a large crowd in the center of the market; a little too large for us. We also had Charlie and Daisy with us, so it quickly became overwhelming trying to navigate around other people and avoid any other dog encounters.
We found an opening in the crowd and veered left towards Gmunden’s newest brunch spot, La Sonett, a french-inspired bakery and pastry shop, as well as an apartment complex.
We grabbed a two seater table outside and ordered the vegan breakfast. It was quite expensive for what we got. €17/person for a coffee and a selection of breads and spreads, but everything was delicious and the overall vibe of the building was cool.
After we got back home, we went back out onto the lake. I went SUPing and Eric went rowing as he has now learned how to row the single person boat!
The biggest highlight of week 96:
After 3,402 days of student loan debt and two days after President Biden announced the student loan forgiveness plan (which didn't apply to us), Eric submitted his last student loan payment this week 👏
