Week 6: First Thanksgiving In Austria

This week we celebrated our first Thanksgiving in Austria. It was also the first holiday without our families, but thankfully we were able to facetime them back home. It took an hour and a half to find and translate all the ingredients in the grocery store, but we figured it out and had a wonderful day of cooking and eating and reheating the same food every day for the last few days.

This week’s video was going to be all of our Thanksgiving Day recipes being made, but we were too busy actually making the food to film it. If you follow me on Instagram, then you saw the delicious apple pie I made. It was THE BEST pie we’ve ever had. Click here for the recipe.

Traditionally after the big Thanksgiving meal we go on a big walk. This year, we went on a big hike. 1000 calories, 6 miles, and 3 hours later we arrived at the Mair Alm. If fairies existed, you would find them here. Mair Alm is an eclectic alpine hut at the foot of the Traunstein and the cutest place to stop and eat on the way up the mountain. There were seats made of tree trunks and chandeliers hanging on trees. Out of all the hikes, this one was a most difficult but has some of the prettiest views.

We’re looking forward to warmer weather because we’ll be back here and hopefully on our way to the top of the Traunstein.

xoxo
